The Secret of Empowered People

Empowered people don’t hide.

They nail showing up.

If you want to be, feel and act empowered, here are the 6 fundamentals you need to get right:

1. Self-esteem

> Do you appreciate yourself? It’s not only a matter of letting praise from others in, it’s also about talking to yourself kindly. Self-esteem is about holding your opinion of yourself as more important than someone else’s. It’s about treating yourself in the kindest, most nourishing ways. It’s about not beating yourself up and having robust personal boundaries. Becoming your best cheerleader is key.

2. Own worth

> Who decides it? When you respect and love yourself, you know your own worth. And very important – your own opinion matters the most. You learn to see and respect your worth. It also becomes natural to be the one who decides what you’re capable of.

3. Confidence

> Do you believe you can figure things out? Do you speak as confident people do? Do you make an effort every day to become better and master your mind? There is a lot of purposeful actions you can take to strengthen your confidence.

4. Personal values

> What are your non-negotiables? Do you know the deep motives of your actions – what drives you? Each life category is important – use this exercise for a quick assessment of areas you can improve.

5. Responsibility

> Who handles your life? There is a lot of power in how you face the futureonly if you design the future to work for you.

6. Life vision

> Taking responsibility is the fuel for a robust life vision. If you already spent a lot of time and resources trying to find your life purpose – and you didn’t find it – take a break. Finding a purpose for your life may be a waste of time. There is a different way of approaching this topic.

A better question to ask yourself, instead of “what’s my life purpose”, is “what’s my legacy?”. Asking yourself this question forces you to assess if whatever you do now, is what you want to be your legacy. And if not, the answer to this question can start the change needed for leaving a legacy that’s meaningful to you.

Starting a self-empowerment journey is hard.

There’s no shortcut to getting it right.

But, if you nail these 6 fundamentals, you’ll give yourself a great chance to succeed.
